4 June 2016 for the fourth Ottery St Mary Food & Families Festival

Mark your diaries! 4 June 2016 for the fourth Ottery St Mary Food & Families Festival

Following the hugely successful third Food & Families Festival in June 2015, tastebuds are already being tantalised in anticipation of the next, in what is becoming a major fixture on the East Devon annual events calendar.

The festival is run on a not-for-profit basis with the full support of local businesses, restaurants and cafes and is a great way to celebrate local producers, products and chefs. This year, it was estimated, it attracted more than 5,000 visitors to the town.

Organisers are already planning the finer details of what will absolutely be another humdinger of an event. It will be hard to top this year’s success, with street markets, cooking demonstrations and entertainment, but an enthusiastic and talented team are going to try.

Ruud Jansen Venneboer, one of the festival organisers said: “We are looking forward to creating an even better festival in 2016. We are so lucky with the amount of fantastic food and drink in this part of Devon, and we look forward to showcasing it all.”

Unlike a number of other food events, the festival will be free to attend, with a focus on “keeping things local” and the family. Various local groups and organisations are already signed up, including schools, the Carnival Committee and the WI. Fingers will be crossed for a repeat of the beautiful weather enjoyed this year.

The Ottery St Mary Food & Families Festival is organised by and for the community, with dozens of volunteers offering many hours of their spare time to make this great event happen.
